My husband and I at a park in our hometown this past fall (November 2011).

Grade Level/Discipline: I'm currently in graduate school pursuing my MAT. I earned certification in English/Language Arts at the secondary level in December of 2011. I hope to teach middle school Language Arts someday. Before coming to teaching, I worked in marketing and event planning.

Few Facts about myself:

  1. Fact 1: I am oldest of five sisters. Two of my sisters are biological, and the other two are adopted from China.
  2. Fact 2: I am married and currently expecting a baby, due November 1!
  3. Fact 3: In my free time, I enjoy running 5ks and traveling. I have traveled throughout Europe, as well as to Costa Rica and Mexico, and recently returned from a stay in Hawaii on the islands of Oahu and Kauai.
  4. Fact 4: My husband and I both have big families and we love it. I have 5 nephews and 2 nieces.

What I'd like to learn or get out of this course: I hope to learn how to use technology in meaningful, engaging ways in my future classroom. I also hope learn about how my future students, as members of a much more technology-driven generation, learn in their own way - and how I, as their facilitator, can offer them the best possible opportunities within the classroom environment.

My favorite game(s): I would be lying if I said I was game person - I honestly can't think of any I would call my favorites. I would rather go for a run or a hike if the weather is nice or going skiing if its snowing. I enjoy traveling, reading, watching a good movie, talking, and exploring to name just a few interests, but the only time you're going to find me playing a game (video or otherwise) is if my little sisters, nephews, or nieces have begged me to play with them. My husband really likes Settlers and Risk, so those are really the only other games I ever play (if forced), but he usually has to wait for a guy's night in to play them.

Oh wait...I forgot all about Angry Birds. That stupid game is addictive. I hate it, but I still play it from time to time. :) Blame the nephews for that one!
